Since twenty days, city Christians who prepared themselves for the celebration of the birthday of Jesus Christ, began their celebrations across the city with fervour. Every church across the city was decorated with lights and cribs, attracting the city crowd in huge numbers. Santa Claus, who arrives only during the winter season, was found greeting people across the city. Children and youth have already completed spreading the Christmas joy by visiting houses and singing carols until late night. Jacob Abraham,a resident of Ejipura who was completely involved in carols team for this Christmas season, said, “This is a feast where we get a chance to meet and greet many people from the community and share our joy. This year also we have tried spreading the true message of Jesus Christ.” Meanwhile, Mangalorean Catholics settled in Bengaluru have already completed preparing Kuswar (a variety of sweets) to share among their friends and relatives. “Even though we live in Bengaluru, we have continued preparing Kuswar. This year, as a tradition, we all family members sat together and prepared Chakkuli, Nivryo, Kidiyo, Ribbons, Gulio, Rice laddu, Karakaddi and other sweets,” said Ronald Fernandes, a resident of Frazer Town. When Christmas is around the corner, the demand for cakes also goes high. This year also there is an increased demand for rich plum and plum cakes. “Since a month, we are busy receiving orders for plum cakes and there is more demand for rich plum cakes. Sometime customers also order for extra rum cakes but we cannot take these orders in this season,” said the owner of an oldest bakery near Johnson market.
