Image/Major Akshay Girish FB Bengaluru: The mortal remains of Major Akshay Girish (31) who was killed among six others in a terrorist attack at Nagorta reached Bengaluru in a service aircraft on Thursday. Thousands had gathered around his residence, Jade Garden in Yelahanka, to pay their respects to the martyred soldier. At Yelahanka air force station, army personnel, minister TB Jayachandra, Mayor G Padmavathi and other dignitaries paid their respects. Later, the body was shifted to his residence in a special vehicle where the body will be kept for public to pay their respects from 2 pm to 4 pm. It is said that his mortal remains will be confined to flames at Hebbal crematorium and the cremation will take place with military honours. Major Akshay Girish was a soldier with the 51 engineer Reginment of the Bengal Sappers. He is survived by wife Sangeetha and two-and-half-year-old daughter Naina.
