Chakravarthy Sulibele to contest from Udupi, Naresh Shenoy for Mangaluru?

Bengaluru: A decision which is expected to send shockwaves both in Sangh and BJP circles in coastal Karnataka, BJP national leadership has decided to field NaMo Brigade leaders Chakravarthy Sulibele and Naresh Shenoy in the 2018 state assembly election.

According to sources, Sulibele will be given ticket from Udupi constituency which is now represented by Fisheries Minister Pramod Madhwaraj. Naresh Shenoy will be contesting from Mangalore South which is now represented by Congress MLA J R Lobo.

According to sources, in both the constituencies BJP lacks charismatic leaders. Udupi is not new for Sulibele who conducted a programme called Kanaka Nade in the city on October 23, 2016 in response to Udupi Chalo organised by like-minded liberal organisations.

"Mangalore South constituency is a strong fort of Konkani speaking people who comprise both Hindu Konkanis and Christians and Mogaveera community. It was a strong BJP constituency until JR Lobo defeated BJP candidate Yogeesh Bhat in 2013. The party has no strong candidate after Shrikar Prabhu was suspended from party. So Naresh Shenoy is the best bet," said sources.

Naresh Shenoy was recently released from jail on bail in the murder of RTI Activist Vinayak Panduranga Baliga. Again he was booked for wrongful restraint and threat to kill after a Mangalore resident Bharat Kamat filed a case against him.
