Bengaluru: A Sub-Inspector, Railway Protection Force, Mysuru, was convicted by a CBI court in a four-year-old case for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000.
The accused Vinod Kumar Maurya was sentenced to 1 year rigorous imprisonment and also fined Rs15,000.
According to the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of the CBI, Bengaluru, in Dec 2013, the accused demanded bribe from the complainant, Nikhil, for allowing him to enter the goods shed and make payment to the labourers. Later, Nikhil approached the ACB and filed a complaint. On Dev 24, 2013, the ACB laid a trap and caught the SI red-handed while accepting a sum of Rs. 5,000.
After the completion of investigation, a charge-sheet was filed on Aug, 2014 against Vinod Kumar under the PC Act-1988.
