Bengaluru: Another Kannada Rajyotsava is here, but the state language, Kannada, is yet to be fully implemented in all departments.
Jobseekers are having a tough time due to an oversight of officials at the Bengaluru city police commissionerate.
Drivers, housekeepers and security guards need to get a police verification certificate to get jobs in the city. And to do that, they need to download and fill in a police verification form. Unfortunately, this form, even now, is only available in English. As a result, hundreds of people are being inconvenienced as they are not literate enough to fill the application in English language, leading to delay in procuring the police verification certificate.
After pro-Kannada activists held protests against the nationalised banks for not printing challan in Kannada, banks started printing challan in Kannada along with English and Hindi. The police department needs to introduce a Kannada version of the form immediately if it wants to avoid any protests over the issue.
