Demolition of tilting building in Ejipura begins

Bengaluru: The BBMP on Thursday began demolishing the illegal five-storied structure in Ejipura after evacuating the neighbouring residents.
The residents have been temporarily shifted to Koramangala's NGV Club till the dangerously tilting structure is demolished. The structure had tilted by another feet.
The demolition is being carried out by a private agency and is likely to last 3-5 days. According to the BBMP, the entire cost will be borne by the builder of the illegal building.
Lives up in smoke
Though the BBMP claimed to have shifted all residents within the vicinity of the structure, two families are yet to be shifted.
The families of Shakir Begum and Chand Pasha, who were staying on rent in the adjacent building, are out on the streets. Both families have spent the past two nights on the street.
The furniture and utensils are still in the house and officials are not letting the families take them out. Both families said they had no money to pay advance to rent another house.
