Mangaluru: Mangalore University Registrar (Evaluation), MA Khan, said the university hadn't delayed the proposal to introduce Arabic as an optional language for B.A students.
"The constituent degree colleges of Mangalore University can apply for Arabic as an optional language from the academic year 2017-2018. Besides, the university has also decided to launch diploma and certificate courses in Arabic language from the next academic year," he said.
During the last Academic Council meeting of the university held on March 23, one of the syndicate members had proposed the introduction of Arabic language. The vice chancellor Prof. K Byrappa too had endorsed the proposal.
Khan said the proposal had now been formally approved and already a few colleges had applied for the Arabic course.
