Mumbai: Five new Konkani books were released at the mega get-together of Konkani associations ‘Konkani Ekvott 2017’ organised in association with Ashawadi Prakashan in Mumbai, recently.
Mangaluru: Prof. (Dr.) US Krishna Nayak, Principal and Dean, A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences, was conferred with the ‘Distinguished Orthodontist Award of the Year 2016’ for excellence in orthodontics by the Indian Health Professional Awards Committee. The award was presented at a glittering function in Pune recently. Dr. Krishna Nayak has previously been the head of The Indian Orthodontic Society, Indian Dental Association, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy to name a few.

Mumbai: Suresh Bhandary Kadandale was honoured with the Society Icon Award by Magnum Publishers in recognition of his contribution to Bhandary community and also Tulu-Kannadiga community. The award was presented to Suresh Bhandary during a glittering function held at Taj Hotel by Bollywood actors Mugda Godse, Gulshan Grover, Harsh Goenka and Ashok Damankar.
Mumbai: The fourth Humanity First festival 2016 has been organised on September 25 at Cidco Exhibition Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai at 3 pm. The Foundation is a national human rights organisation with 40,000 members and 1500 office-bearers. The festival aims to gather support for the foundation’s 22 social welfare and human rights projects. These projects have already benefited thousands of underprivileged in need.Various cultural programmes have been lined up during the festival. Besides, the organisers will award Human First Foundation award.

Mumbai: Billavas Association organised its annual scholarship distribution programme at Narayana Guru auditorium, Santacruz (East), in Mumbai. On the occasion, scholarships were distributed to talented students of the community. Mumbai: Tulu Koota Pune celebrated its nineteenth anniversary at Mahalaxmi Lawns, Karve Nagar in Mumbai. UAE Tuluver organising secretary Sarvottam Shetty was the chief guest of the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, Sarvottam praised Tuluvas for the regard they have for their customs and traditions and their parents. “The gathering of large number of Tuluvas at the venue testifies the bond Tuluvas have even while living away from hometowns,” he said, adding that “Tulu ought to be spoken at homes for the children to converse fluently”.
Mumbai: Billawar Association organised a blood camp at Billawar Bhavan, Santacruz (East), Mumbai, on Sunday. Organised in collaboration with Prabhodan Thackeray Blood Bank, Goregaon, Association president Nityanand D Kotian and social activist Chandravati inaugurated the blood camp here on Sunday morning. Nearly 200 people, including 80 members of Seva Dal, voluntarily donated blood on the occasion.

He was speaking at a preliminary meeting of launching of BCCI at Deepa Comforts, Mangaluru, recently. The forum will groom the community members to be able to face the challenges of globalisation in order to contribute towards the prosperity of the community, he said.
Mumbai: At a glittering ceremony of ‘Aakanksha 2016’, Sandarsh Suresh Shetty was crowned ‘Mister Bunt’ and Dr Nisha Shetty won the ‘Miss Bunt’ title here recently. While Sandarsh hails from Bajpe, Mangaluru, Dr Nisha is a dentist. Also, Rajat Shetty and Krishmitha Shetty were the first runner up at the event.
Mumbai: Winners of the #100Women Initiative, a joint initiative of Facebook and Union Woman and Child Development (WCD) ministry, met the President of India on the eve of the Republic day. The initiative aims to recognise women leaders in India who are making a difference to peoples’ lives across India. People were invited to submit nominations on the Ministry’s Facebook page and then vote on the shortlist of finalists.
