Dubai: The sixth anniversary of “KaDaM” (Kundapura Devadiga Mitra) was celebrated in a grand style at the Marco Polo Hotel Deira, Dubai. After the lighting of the lamp and the prayer song, Nithyananda Beskoor welcomed the audience to the function hosted by Santosh Sherigar, Shridhar Devadiga and Nithyananda Beskoor. The cultural events at the programme included a beautiful Bharatanatyam performance by Kumari Lakshmi Jayachandran. It was followed by melodious songs, dance performances. Later, Vasudeva Devadiga Byndoor spoke about the story of KaDaM.

Sharjah: Artists from Klassical Rhythms left the audience spellbound at the fifth anniversary of Earthmech FZC on Dec 16. Over 50 artists mesmerised the audience during the show.

Salmiya (Kuwait): Karnataka branch of Kuwait Kerala Muslim Association (KKMA) re-elected Abdul Jabbar as the President for the next two-years term (2017 – 2018) in the GBM held recently. Delivering the welcome address, Senior leader and advisor Abdul Hameed Mulky highlighted the various charitable achievements and activities of KKMA such as Family Benefit Schems (FBS), Educational Scholarship Program (ESP), Medical Assistance Program (MAP) and Housing Improvement Program (HIP) etc.

Kuwait: The Kuwait Canara Welfare Association Kuwait (KCWA) will be organising 'Kala Utsav 2017' on January 13 at the American International School, Kuwait. The programme will include performances by popular actors and singers, live band by 'Soul Stirrers', Gulf Baila Naach semi-finals, rib-tickling jokes by famous comedians from Kuwait, foot-tapping dances by local artistes, distribution of merit scholarships and awards, hamper draw, and Konkani drama - 'Keppyache Kesthavn'.

Kuwait: The St Aloysius College Alumni Association (SACAA), Kuwait, held its annual general body meeting at Salmiya under leadership of the outgoing President Ashley D’Silva.  Proceedings began with a brief self-introduction of every member followed by the outgoing President Ashley D’Silva welcoming everyone to the gathering. This was followed by the treasurers report given by Neethan Cutinha, who accounted for the various events that were conducted during the last two years. Also, a moment of silence was observed in remembrance of Cyril Peris.

Dubai: Multi-faceted personality Sarvotham Shetty from Abu Dhabi has been chosen as the honorary president of Vishwa Tulu Ayonu 2016 to be held in Kasargod from Dec 9. For more than three decades, Sarvotham Shetty has been supporting the cause of Tulu language and culture. Being an artist himself, he guided many fellow Tuluvas/Kannadigas in many ways.

Manama Bahrain: Bellevision Bahrain’s 6th Annual Day was organised on Thursday at the Baen Sang Thai Auditorium. The programme began with an introduction of the event by Master of Ceremony Rony Pinto followed by a dance performance by Nikitha, Rachell and Jennifer. Speaking on the occasion, Alfreeda Castelino welcomed the gathering and expressed her gratitude and thanked all the members for their hard work and dedication.

College Park, Maryland/USA: The DC Mangalorean Association hosted a Christmas celebration at the Rasoi Restaurant in College Park, Maryland.   Over 120 people from Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia joined in the celebration. Daryl Fernandes was the MC for the evening. The event started with a Nativity play by the children. Carol DSouza , Renita Nazareth and Joann Albuquerque organised the play and selected the songs. The choir provided some beautiful Christmas music and everyone joined in singing the Christmas songs.

Manama: Young Konkani music icon Kevin Misquith will host a show in Bahrain next year. Bahrain Konkans, in association with the Indian Club Bahrain, will host ‘Kevin Misquith Live in Concert’ on Friday, February 24, 2017 at Indian Club auditorium. A part of the proceedings will be donated for the education of underprivileged girls of Konkan region.

Kuwait: Large crowds attended the KCWA family picnic held recently at the Ahmadi Garden, Kuwait. The fun-filled day started with a prayer led by Satish Saldanha. The event was declared open by President Albert Praveen Menezes along with the presence of KCWA Ex-Presidents Felix Saldanha, Rudy D’Souza, Stephen Machado and Managing Committee members.  

Yambu: Team Bin Fahad is all set to launch its maiden T10 cricket tournament ‘Winter Trophy’ in January 2017. The tournament will be played on every Friday from January 6. Matches will be held in league and knockout stages at Yambu cricket academy ground. All matches will be played during day and will be restricted to ten overs. The prize money for the tournament is a whopping SAR 25,000. Following are the details: Winner: 10001 Saudi Riyal cash prize and Bin Fahad Champions Trophy.

Dammam: Karkala Association Saudi Arabia (KASA) will be conducting the third edition of Karkala Super Cup 2016 - an 8-over cricket tournament on Dec 9 at SABSA ground Rakha, Dammam. Twelve Asian teams from the eastern province (Dammam, Al Khobar, Jubail) of Saudi Arabia will be participating in the tournament. Several prizes including man of the match awards in each match, best batsman, best bowler, best fielder of the tournament and man of the series trophies will be given along with the winners and runners-up trophies, said a release.

Bahrain: Has demonetisation stalled key business event, The Bahrain-India Week scheduled for December 2 and 3? While none of the officials associated with the event are confirming it, it is being speculated that the exhibition featuring more than 100 Indian businesses has been put off until next year due to demonetisation. Most of the Indian participants – it is said – are facing cash crunc.  

Doha-Qatar: Bunts Qatar celebrated its fifth anniversary with colourful cultural programmes at the Giwana Ballroom hall of the Hotel Radission Blu here on November 18. Parliament Secretary and MLA Shakuntala Shetty and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty were the guests of honour and Indian Ambassador to Qatar P Kumaran was chief guest.  After the formal inauguration, young talented singers Shilpa Venkatesh and Nishan Rai kicked off the cultural programmes with their melodious songs. 

Doha: The Karnataka Sangha Qatar is all set to host the 61st Karnataka Rajyotsava celebrations on Friday at the La Cigale Hotel, Doha. The programme will feature a variety of cultural programmes from various Karnataka-based associations like Tulukoota Qatar, Mangalore Cricket Club, Bunts Qatar and Karnataka Sangha Qatar (KSQ).
