Bride in wedding gown surprises voters in Mangaluru

Mangaluru: While everybody is waiting for their turn at the polling booth at St Lawrence English Medium School at Bondel in Mangaluru, one lady hurriedly entered the room, grabbing their attention.

Viola Fernandes, who entered into wedlock today at 10.30am, turned up at the polling station in her wedding gown.
Even her family members came to the polling booth, before leaving to Belthangady, where she entered into wedlock with Sylvester Rodrigues.
Speaking to media she said that she was excited about voting on her wedding day.
There were a lot of discussions while fixing her wedding day. But they finalised the wedding date with the resolution that they would cast their votes if voting comes on the same day, she said.
Stany Alvares, President of RACHANA, Mangalore's Catholic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said it was proud to see a bride exercising her frachise on the wedding day. "While many people skip elections for no reason, Viola cast her vote on the wedding day. It is a proud moment," he said.
