EgyptAir flight carrying 66 people goes missing

Submitted by alvin on Thu, 2016-05-19 11:11 New York: EgyptAir flight 804 heading from Paris to Cairo with 66 people on board disappeared from radar early Thursday morning. The plane was flying at 37,000 feet when it disappeared shortly after entering Egyptian airspace, the airline tweeted, reports CNN. Search and rescue operations in the area are being carried out by the Egyptian navy. Captain Ahmed Adel, a vice chairman at EgyptAir said that the Airbus A320 had 56 passengers on board. Passengers included two infants, one child and 10 crew members. The airline earlier said that 59 people were on board. In a series of tweets, Egypt Air gave the details of the pilots. "Noteworthy that the aircraft pilot has 6275 of flying hours including 2101 flying hours on Airbus 320, " Egypt Air tweeted. "As for the co-pilot he has 2766 flying hours. The manufacturing date of the aircraft in 2003," it said. Meanwhile, special teams from the Egyptian Armed Forces have been deployed at site located for inspection and rescue.
