Submitted by alvin on Sun, 2016-05-01 13:50 Dhaka: A day after a Hindu tailor was killed in Bangladesh's Tangail district which the Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for, three unknown persons have been sued in connection with the killing. Aratai Joardar, the wife of slain Nikhil Joardar, filed the case with the Gopalpur Police Station last night, reports the Daily Star. Nikhil, 50, was hacked to death at his shop by unidentified assailants in Dubail area under Gopalpur upazila of Tangail district in broad daylight yesterday. Though the motive behind the attack was not clear, but the machete attack resembled the recent spate of targeted attacks on secular bloggers, writers and people of different faiths and ideologieskilled in the country. According to the police, two to three assailants came on a bike and took part in the killing at around 12:30 p.m. yesterday. The police also said that Nikhil was jailed for several weeks in 2012 on charges of making derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad. Police sources believe that this could be a possible motive behind his murder. Hours after his murder, US-based SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors terrorist activities globally, in a post said that global terror outfit Islamic State ( IS) claimed responsibility for the killing.
