Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-04-27 19:25 Wuhan: Ace Indian shuttler Saina Nehwalkicked off her campaign at the Badminton Asia Championships on a winning note as she swept aside Indonesia's Fitriani Fitriani to sail into the second round of the tournament here on Wednesday. Fifth seed Saina took just 21 minutes to outclass her Indonesian compatriot 21-16, 21-17 in the opening round of the women's singles event. In addition, P.V Sindhu also advanced to the second round after hammering Maria Febe Kusumastuti of Indonesia 21-10, 21-13 in the contest that lasted for half an hour. In the men's singles event, eighth-seed Kidambi Srikanth suffered a major blow as he has been knocked out of the tournament after going down 13-21, 21-12 ,21-19 at the hands of Lee Dong Keun of Koria. Meanwhile, Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa also crashed out of the women's doubles event after tasting 15-21, 11-21 defeat against Korean pair of Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee .
