They feel that the railways has been unfair towards them. According to a notification issued by the Southern Railway, with effective from April 12, the number of coaches in intercity express train 22535/22636 route has been reduced from 15 to 11. This would be a permanent step, said the notification. The authorities say that poor occupancy on the train forced them to reduce the coaches. But contradicting them, regular passengers say the timings of the Madgaon Express were clashing with other trains running in that direction. Hence, they preferred to take other trains. Commuters of this region have been demanding additional trains for them. Besides, a separate division for Mangaluru under Konkan Railway division has been a long-standing demand. And now reducing the number of coaches on the intercity express. The commuters rue that the railway authorities have dealt a raw deal to them.
