Are they going to the campus for study or to participate in fashion shows? Those who do all these things would lag behind in education. If you want to succeed in life and education, give up fashion.” This is what the Karnataka governor advised the students here at the prestigious Mysore University here on Saturday. While speaking at the valedictory function of 103rd Indian Science Congress here, Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala said that instead of giving priority to fashion and beauty the students should focus on studies and research. “Women should wear proper clothes while going to the college and should not be much conscious about eye brows and other fashionable things”. Though Vala lauded girls for their performances in the field of education, his remarks haven’t seem to have gone down well with the audience as many of them were critical of his remarks saying that the comments were unnecessary at an event like Indian Science Congress.
