Youth Congress leader Rizwan Arshad attacked senior leader Jaffer Sharief for playing the minority card to secure the ticket for his grandson, Rahman Sharief. Rizwan, who has not seen eye to eye with Jaffer Sharief, said, “Let Jaffer Sharief first confirm which party he has belongs to. He is not firm whether he is a Congress party worker or a JD(S) supporter. Congress has given him more than 40 years of political career.” Rizwan Arshad was present at party office to attend the KPCC minority wing meeting on Saturday. After by-elections for three vacant MLA constituencies in the state were announced, veteran Congress leader Jaffer Sharief started lobbying to secure the ticket for his grandson. The seat had fallen vacant due to the demise of BJP MLA Jagadish Kumar. “When I was a candidate during the 16th Lok Sabha elections from Bengaluru Central, Jaffer Sharief had a problem and did not support a Congressman. Now claims he is minority leader and is lobbying for a ticket, which is not right,” Rizwan said. “Rahman Sharief had been given a chance earlier and now it is time for other party workers. Jaffer Sharief cannot blackmail the party,” said Rizwan.
