'Tipu was a Tyrant; I Did not Mean to Hurt Kurubas'

Submitted by Newseditor on Mon, 2015-11-16 20:32 Mysuru: Issuing a clarification on his statement on Tipu Jayanthi issue MP Pratam Simha has stated that if the sentiments of the Kuruba Community is hurt he is willing to retract his statement.  In an official note he has stated that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has glorified a "tyrant" like Tipu Sultan who according to Pratap Simha was a mass murderer and a plunderer quoting pages of "history". He has clarified that his question, "If the victims of Tipu's atrocities were Kurubas instead of Kodavas would the chief minister have made Tipu Jayanthi Official?" was just  a bid to stir Siddaramaiah's conscience. He added that further this also violated the strict prohibition in Islam against celebrating anybody's birthday. Pratap Simha has reiterated that he had no intentions whatsoever of demeaning the Kuruba Community.
