Be it odd-even scheme or ban days I am sure it's already in need of it.. Already the levels of pollution is choking us...It's just matter of time ,as we are seeing the rising cases of respiratory diseases which already Bangalore faces due to its weather and being allergy capital apart from pollution. Bangalore has a negligible public transportation to cater in comparision to the present on the move population needs. Present Functional Metro stretch is more of kids Joy Ride .To be effective ,it has to cover every nook and corner of Bangalore like it does in Delhi,Paris,Boston etc. Bangalore has no End to End connectors like riksha OR pool riksha where 7/8 people club together and reach the final destination after taking a bus or metro ,like one sees in Delhi and some more towns. Autos are useless they are more of a pain than help, whoever has tried getting an auto can relate ... Bangalore needs frequent 20 minutes shuttles in each of these four zones : Intra tech parks within each big tech park, Inter Main Commercial markets , Inter Tech Hubs like between Electronic City, ORR, Manyata, Bagmane etc. Considering woes of Whitefield where there was a recent massive protest by 8-10 thousand Whitefielders ,here people work and reside in same area continous ,every 20 minutes Intra Whitefield Shuttles are required as IT industry doesn't have 9-5 job, everybody leaves at different time jobs requiring overseas interaction and options of working from home. These above measures can definitely reduce the pollution as well as commute time and help in well being of citizens. Of course the most important Metro and BMTC has to really play a good and main role There is another major aspect that gets neglected is Daycares. Since many couples are working ,they shuttle more than average person to pick and drop kids to daycare ,whereas it's really tough to find a good one and have to settle with far off one. This increases traffic. Government cannot ignore for long this requirement and need to set strict daycare laws and rules and make mandatory for all existing and new TechParks and Individuals big campuses to have large enough daycare to have less vehicular movement. It will be a win win situation for Parents, Child, Pollution. I believe that government should take note of these suggestions sooner than later.. These are easily doable things and will be welcome by public specifically when job profiles have odd timings of work, house makers ,kids ,all are on move to live their day to day life. This is the right time to change for better.
