Submitted by alvin on Wed, 2016-04-27 16:07 Mysuru: State cabinet sub-committee to study drought headed by Law minister TB Jayachandra conducted a review meeting on drought-relief works undertaken by the district administration. Not satisfied by the works, he took the officials to task and asked them to expedite works prioritising drinking water in both rural and urban areas. Deputy commissioner C Shikha told the meeting that the district administration has already formed task force to carry out the work. Besides, fodder has been stocked up in drought-hit areas for livestock, she added. MLA G T Devegowda demanded the committee to release funds forming a seperate scheme for drinking water. He complained that the government is not focussing on rejuvenating the lakes and urged the district administration to chalk out a plan in this regard. After the meeting, the committee toured Muttikyathanahalli, Bogadi, HD Kote, Hunsur and Periyapatna to assess drought and understand works taken up to revive groundwater. Cooperative minister Mahadevaprasad, Food and Civil Supplies minister Dinesh Gundurao, MLAs Chikkamadu, Manjunath and Vasu were present.
