When they were conspicuous by their absence at the party’s recent executive meeting here, JD(S) State president HD Kumaraswamy denied these rumours. The former chief minister further defended saying that if they (party leaders) are meeting chief minister Siddaramaiah, one should not read it otherwise. They could be seeking his assistance to carry out developmental works in their respective areas. Even JD(S) MLA Revanna meets Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on a regular basis but this should not be construed othewise, he said. At the meeting, a road map to strengthen the party for 2018 Assembly election was discussed. The party decided to project HD Kumaraswamy as its chief ministerial candidate and also to go alone in the elections. On touring drought-hit districts, Kumaraswamy said the party will wait for the government to initiate measures to address drought in the state till May 15. Since Congress and BJP are touring these districts, JD(S) will wait what changes they will bring about, he added. MLA SR Mahesh and MLA GT Devegowda were present.
