Submitted by Newseditor on Sat, 2015-11-14 18:59 Belagavi:  In an alleged bid to disturb communal harmony in the city, miscreants set a place of worship in Fort premises ablaze in the wee hours of Friday in Belagavi City. Miscreants set on fire the Hajarat Feer Sikhandar Darga, a small worship place located in fort premises belonging to the Islam faith. According to officials, the fire was sighted at around 3 am, and a had burnt down. However, a passerby on sighting the fire swung into action and put off the fire, while some military personnel brought the issue to the notice of the police. Senior police officials including Police Commissioner S Ravi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Anupam Agarwal and other subordinate officials visited the spot. Rafiq Ahmed Mujawar, a community member has filed a complaint accusing that miscreants had set on fire the place of worship aiming to disturb communal harmony. He has stated that the incident had hurt the sentiments of the people of that faith and demanded stringent action against the perpetrators. Market Police have registered a case.
