Submitted by Subeditor on Sat, 2016-01-30 15:52 Gopakumar breathed his last here on Saturday early morning at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. Gopakumar was undergoing a treatment for cancer for past several months and according to the sources his death came at around 3. 50 am. Gopakumar was 58 and survived by his wife and two daughters. The cremation will be held at Shanti Kavadam at Thycaud here on Saturday evening with full state honours. Gopakumar, fondly known as TNG, started his journalistic career with Indian Express and went on to work with Mathrubhumi, News Time, Statesman, Independent and India Today. He also contributed to BBC Radio before joining Asianet. He also made a mark with his weekly TV programme Kannadi, focusing on touching social issues which made him very popular.
