Hailing from Seppa in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh, Sono Effa is a class IX standard student in Bhonsala Military School, Nagpur Maharashtra. What is so intriguing about Effa is he represented his school in the Subroto Cup International Football Tournament 2015 at Ambedkar stadium New Delhi in September- October 2015. In September- October last, Effa represented his school in the under -17 team, where they lost to a team from Bangladesh in the quarter-finals. In 2014, he was the captain of the under-14 team for the tournament and scored seven goals, out of the thirty scored against a team from Sri Lanka. However, they lost in the quarterfinals 2-1 against a team from Nagaland. On January 16 last, he received a certificate and memento from Maharashtra sports and youth affairs minister RK Shrawat for his outstanding performance and achievement during the school annual day parade. Sono, who is son of Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited chairman Tungri Effa, is a cadet with National Cadet Corps (NCC) and hone his skills under their guidance. “I want to pursue football as a career, he says. I have always dreamt of donning the Indian colors and one day I want to represent my country.” With such will power, the sky is the limit for the budding sportsman.
