About four calls made by the militants from the midnight were intercepted by the intelligence. Three of the calls are said to be made by the militants to their handlers in Pakistan. In the last call that lasted for about 87 seconds, a thorough attack plan was discussed. The fivesome had to split into three groups and gain entry into the pathankot airbase via three gates. The term "hawai jahaz" heard is consrued to be a plan to specifically target MIG 21s and assault choppers. In another call intercepted, one of the militants was heard talking to his mother in Pakistani Punjabi. He reportedly explained to her that he was a member of the suicide squad.
