Two Sudanese students killed in accident in city

Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-05-14 19:55 Bengaluru: Two Sudanese nationals were killed in a road accident after their bike rammed into the bridge wall on being hit by a canter from behind on Kasturi Nagar bridge on Outer Ring Road in East Bengaluru on Saturday morning. The KR Puram traffic police said the deceased had been identified as Awab Mohammed Ibrahim, 20, and Abdul Rehman Mubarak, 24, both Sudanese nationals and residents of BEL Circle in Bengaluru. Ibrahim was studying BCA at Acharya College and Mubarak was studying B.Pharma in the same college. Police said the incident took place around 6.45 am when the duo was returning home from a friend’s house. Their high-end bike was first hit by a speeding canter from the rear, as a result of which the rider, Ibrahim, lost his balance and slammed the bike into the bridge wall on Kasturi Nagar bridge. The duo was killed on the spot. The canter driver fled the scene leaving his vehicle at the accident spot. The police were informed about the incident and rushed to the spot. Bodies have been shifted to Bowring hospital for postmortem examination. “We have registered a case against the canter driver and efforts are being made to nab him. We have seized both vehicles for further procedure,” an investigating officer said.
