Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-04-30 13:46 Bengaluru: Manepanda Appaiah Ganapathy, a 1986 batch IPS officer will take over as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttarakhand from May 1. He was, earlier, posted as the personal staff of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. Ganapathy has been awarded the President’s Medal for meritorious service. He completed his primary and secondary education at Ponnampet in Kodagu and graduated from the Madras Christian College Tambaram. He completed his post-graduation at JNU New Delhi. He is the son of Manepanda Appaiah, an advocate in Vittal and Premalatha, a retired teacher of Kunda in Virajpet taluk of Kodagu. Ganapathy is married to Sandhya and they have a son.
