Bengaluru City Police Seizes 700 Auto Rickshaws in a single day.

Submitted by Subeditor on Sat, 2015-11-28 10:31 Bengaluru: In a special drive conducted by Bengaluru City Traffic police across the city against the rouge auto rickshaw drivers, police have seized as many as 700 vehicles in just two hours especially for demanding excess fare and refusal to go on hire.It is learnt that policemen who conducted a special surprise drive were in mufti and the drive was conducted at early morning from 6 am to 8 am on Thursday. Along with 700 seized vehicles, police have also booked auto drivers in failing to display license and display cards.In the beginning of July this year, about 700 cops, including 100 women, who were in mufti held a a 15 hour long special drive Posing as Kannada, English and Hindi speaking 'commuters', they tested the response of drivers. 3,350 autos were fined; 450 were seized.In another inspection that police held recently about 1,663 auto rickshaws from both West and East traffic division for violation of various rules were seized.According to M A Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) “Department had received many complaints regarding auto rickshaw drivers refusing to go for hire, demanding excess fare and being rude to commuters. Police had also received the plaints on few auto-rickshaws plying without proper permit and license display card.”
