Having our own compactor would save the BBMP on rentals paid to private garbage collectors.”  At present, the BBMP spends Rs 450 crore for one year to dispose 3500 tonnes of garbage produced everyday. Also, the Palike will recruit 4,000 more pourakarmikas as per the recent court order. It may be recalled here that there was uproar over age factor considering many pourakarmikas were working on contract basis. Hence, the Palike has decided to follow the court order.
