For, you might have paid more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) and it might have remained unnoticed. But a concious customer, Abhinandan, a resident of Mysuru, dragged MORE Mega stores to the Consumer Forum for charging him more than the MRP. He won the legal battle with Rs 10,000 as compensation, Rs 2,000 towards expenses and Rs 50, that he had paid excess on MRP.It was in 2013, S N Abhinandan purchased a total 16 items worth Rs 507.92 from MORE Mega stores located at Narayana Shasti Road, Devaraja Mohalla in Mysuru. On verification of the bill and the MRP shown on the items, he noticed that the stores had collected more amount.The MORE mega store collected Rs 15/- extra per pack of saffle groundnut oil, Rs 30.07 extra for 0.89 grams Ochra and charged Rs 25 instead of Rs 20 for Hide and Seek chocolates.Finding discripency, Abhinandan knocked the door of Mysore District Cnsumer Disputes Redressal Forum. But the stores manager claimed that the MORE sale price is below than the original MRP for all the products. He further stated that the MORE sale price is always between wholesale price and maximum retail price and products sold by them is always high in quality. He argued that that there is no unfair trade practice as alleged and sought for dismissal of the complaint.However, after listening to both the parties, the Forum directed MORE stores to repay Rs 50/- collected in excess from the complainant in respect of products Groundnut oil, Ochra and Hide and Seek chocolate. The Forum ordered MORE to pay Rs 10,000 as a compensation and Rs 2,000 towards litigation expenses.
