Submitted by Editor on Tue, 2016-03-22 21:18 Bengaluru: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) was conferred with National ASRTU Excellence Award-2016 on Tuesday in Bengaluru for the second in a row in the category of Alternate Fuel and Environment Management. The Association of State Road Transport Undertakings (ASRTU) is a body under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Govt. of India. The award was presented by Arvind Jadhav, Chief Secretary of Karnataka, to Rajender Kumar Kataria, Managing Director, KSRTC at the 60th annual conference of STUs held in Bengaluru. Abhay Damle IRS, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, Pankaj Kumar IAS, Vice President ASRTU, VC and MD Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation and Dr.E.V Ramana Reddy IAS, Principal Secretary, Transport Department of Karnataka were also present. The KSRTC said it had been recognised for its project, 'PRAKRUTI', which is equipped with advanced technology. During the occasion, Arvind Jadhav also launched a bus running on bio-diesel, the first bus to run on such a fuel in the country. The special bus was given to KSRTC by European bus manufacturer Scania on a trial basis.
