Submitted by alvin on Sat, 2016-03-19 21:28 Bengaluru: With State government's assurance of financial aid, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is likely to present its annual budget by the month end. The size of budget is expected to be Rs9000 crore.The Palike's budget reportedly will focus on roads, traffic decongestion and also on solid waste management. BBMP Taxation and Finance Committee Chairperson M Shivaraju along with Mayor Manjunath Reddy, Deputy Mayor HemalathaRuling Party Leader R S Sathyanarayana, BBMP Commissioner Kumar Naik went to meet Chief Minister Siddaramiah on Saturday.Shivaraju said they were expecting a grant of Rs2,000 crore from the state government. "The CM's announcement of more than Rs 4000 crore in the budget came ass a boon.Shivaraju said the government had allocated a sizable sum for Solid Waste Management, lake and roads. "Since good amount of money has been allotted, size of the budget will likely to cross Rs9000 crore,'' he said.Sources from BBMP said they were keen in developing city roads, including major and ward roads. "Roads play important in development of city. When BJP was in power, they never gave priority to roads. We will not take up new flyovers, but roads will be developed across the city,'' sources said.
