On Friday, the ruling Congress and the oppostion had a taste of the precarious situation of power supply in the state when a power cut plunged the assembly hall in darkness, not once but twice, and brought the budget proceedings to a halt for a few minutes.A shell-shocked, helpless chief minister Siddaramaiah could do nothing but wait for the power to come back on so that he could resume his speech. The repercussions for the embarassment was swift. According to reports, four Bescom officials, including C Ramalingaiah, Assistant Executive Engineer, have been suspended for the power cut. The CM has also reportedly asked Chief Secretary Arvind Jadhav to file a report. But speaking to Bfirst, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, CMD, Bescom, said the officials had not been suspended but the national electrical engineer would look into the reasons behind the power cut and action would be taken against those responsible based on the findings of the official.
