Got a two-wheeler? Bengaluru cops might ask you to wear seat belt!

Submitted by Editor on Thu, 2016-03-17 17:28 Bengaluru: There seems to be no end to Bengaluru Traffic Police’s mindless penalizing act. This time, they penalized a bike rider for not wearing his seat belt!Forty-eight-year-old Jagannath was shocked to see the reason for penalizing. The receipt given to him says he is not wearing a seat belt while driving the car! But Jagannath has only a two-wheeler (KA-01-W9368); he neither has a car nor knows to drive it.It can be recalled here that in February, Prakash Sesharaghavachar was penalised for not wearing a helmet while he was driving the car. After media highlighted the cops’ goof-up, the police realized its mistake and said that it was a technical error and issued a fresh penalty saying his car was on zebra crossing.According to Jaganath, “Interestingly, the penalty slip given by the traffic police says I was riding near Seetharamanapalya on January 22. I have no clue where this place is in Bengaluru and my search to spot this place has gone in vain”.Terming it a wrong judgement, MA Saleem, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) said, “everyday, we generate over 12,000 of different types of penalties against traffic rules violators. Till now, about 80 such technical mistakes have occurred from our side. Such mistakes are common as home guards enter wrong keys”.
