According to authorities, no casualties have been reported since residents had been evacuated a day earlier. The building was owned by Arya Bhavan sweets and a mobile shop was evacuated hours before the building collapsed. Area counsellor and officials belonging to the BBMP rushed to the spot along with the Chickpet police to take stock of the situation. The BBMP officials and the police have directed owners of the old, dilapidated buildings to renovate or demolish the buildings.
