Complainant and activist TJ Abraham told mediapersons here on Saturday that the BDA caused a loss of Rs 16 crore to the state treasure while allotting sites to association members in JP Nagar 9th phase and Lingadheeranahalli in Kengeri hobli. “In JP Nagar, the BDA had acquired 33 acre land to allot sites for its association members. Along with it, it also ‘took over’ an additional land measuring 1.5 acre lying next to the plot and sold it 35 non-association members,” he said. While a similar measure of the land from the sanctioned plot was converted into park, thus denying plots to a few association members. In Lingadheeranahalli, Kengeri hobli too, the BDA had the option of converting 15 acre plot into sites for association members. But here too it twisted the plot sketch to have a park from the sanctioned plot and bought additional land to be sold to others, he charged. He accused the BDA of misusing its powers to own excess land and causing loss to the state.
