Day after lathicharge, bandh paralyses life in Kolar and Chikkaballapur

Submitted by alvin on Fri, 2016-03-04 16:10 Bengaluru: The bandh call given by farmers from Kolar and Chikkaballapur in the two districts condemning the police lathicharge in Bengaluru on Thursday crippled normal life, with stray incidents of violence being reported. In Chikkaballapur, the bandh was total. Roads were blocked and protestors forced commercial establishments to down shutters. In Kolar, the bandh paralysed normal life. Vehicles were off the road and commercial activities were hit.There were reports of two KSRTC buses being stoned in Kolar and public property being damaged.Surendra Gowda, a farmer from Shidlagatta in Chikkaballapur, who was injured in the lathicharge near Windsor manor on Thursday, said, “State government is neglecting the farmers and trying to hush up the voices. We are suffering from water crisis but so far no action has been taken except lathicharging poor farmers.”Another farmer Ashwathappa, hailing from the same place, said the lathicharge had exposed the government. "Injuries do not make any difference to us as we are already suffering from major attacks like drought,” Ashwathappa said.Farmer Muniraju said there had been no adequate rain in the district for a long time. "Leaders who promised of solving water crisis in Chikkaballapur district have gone missing after elections. We will continue our protest till we find a solution," he said.Watch Video :
