Speaking to Bfirst, a petrol pump official in Bengaluru said they had not received any notifications from the Petroleum Ministry yet. "The changes in petrol prices will come into effect soon after the official letter comes from the department," he said. Shanmugappa, Karnataka State Lorry Owners Association, said, “The government should define its stand. If the diesel price is hiked, then it will be difficult for most people. Also, 70 percentage of the transportation in our country takes place only through trucks. So it will also affect the transportation of goods. And this will cause a huge burden." But Jagadish, Proprieter, Jagadish Travels, Bengaluru, begged to differ. “I do not think there will be more hurdles. The price hike is only Rs1.47. If the diesel price had been hiked by more than 10 percent, then it would have been a burden," he said. This is the seventh consecutive reduction in the price of petrol.
