They stink, absolutely unhygenic, ill-maintained and not to speak of waiting queues. Now, fret not. The recently launched e-toilets – that came as the next best option to public toilets – can now be tracked for its occupancy among other facilities through an app.A Thiruvananthapuram-based company, Eram Scientific, which has installed 75 e-toilets in different parts of the city, has now developed 'eToilet' mobile app. The app will enable the user know about the availability, occupancy, water condition and other information in different languages. The app will show the details of e-toilets not just in Bengaluru but also in other parts of the country.Speaking to Bfirst.in, Sreekumar G, one of the members who initiated the idea said, “With this app, the user can check the location and availability of 'e-toilets' in his surroundings with the help of GPS."He further said, “User will get required information in preferred languages - Kannada, English or Hindi."The app which will be launched on Wednesday by BBMP Mayor BN Majunath Reddy also lets the user know about usage of the unit under ‘how it works’ and ‘my machines’ option shows the condition of e-toilets. Also ‘View usage’ option gives a detailed info on usage along with date, time and amount of water used and its availability in the machine. The Bengaluru city already has 75 e-toilets. The maintenance, installation and supervision of the electric and sewage connections for the project is being handled by Eram Scientific Solutions. There are solar panels installed atop the eToilets. Each unit of e-toilet will cost about Rs 5.6 Lakh including tax and insurance.
