Contractors doing well, says KJ George after inspection

Submitted by Editor on Thu, 2016-02-18 19:13 Bengaluru: Bengaluru Development Minister KJ George on Thursday inspected the progress of several projects undertaken by the BBMP in the city.Accompanied by Mayor of BBMP BN Manjunath Reddy, Deputy Mayor Hemalatha, Commissioner Kumar G Naik, KJ George inspected ongoing work by the BBMP at Okalipuram Circle, west of Chord Road, Rajaji Nagar, and Magadi Road.The minister first stop was at Okalipuram where an 8-lane road is being built to ease traffic congestion. The project is expected to cost Rs200 crore and is likely to be completed by December 2016.Later, he inspected the Grade Separator being constructed on West of Chord Road at Shivanahalli Junction at a cost of about Rs89 crore and the two-lane flyover, next to the Metro Station, at Rajaji Nagar 10th Cross. The projected cost of the flyover is around Rs25 crore and 95 percent of the work has already been completed.KJ George also inspected the underpass being built on Magadi Road at a cost of Rs25 crore.Expressing satisfaction, the minister said the contractors were “doing well” and “working hard” to finish the projects. “If the projects are completed ahead of schedule, we will reward the contractors and if it gets delayed, we will penalise them,” said KJ George.On Rajkumar Indoor stadium being constructed in Basaweshwar Nagar, he said, “We have already allotted Rs5 crore to the project. We have again released Rs1 crore for the project. So the stadium will be completed soon.”
