Submitted by Subeditor on Wed, 2016-01-27 22:10 Bengaluru: Cinema enthusiasts are in for a treat as the 8th Bengaluru International Film festival is set to begin simultaneously in the city and Mysuru from Thursday. Apart from getting a chance to see the best of world cinema, visitors can also take part in workshops, seminars and master classes to be held during the course of the festival. The scheduled programmes are special interactions with Gulzar, Jaya Bachchan, Ashok Amritraj, Maniratnam and Suhasini Maniratnam, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Nana Patekar and Aparna Sen. Dadasaheb Award Winner Late VK Murthy memorial lecture to be delivered by Anil Mehta, ace cinematographer from Mumbai known for his works like Lagaan, Veer Zaara. Workshop on sound design by Resul Pookutty, Oscar award winning sound designer, seminar on “Gender Sensitivity”, round table on promotion of Asian Cinema at various film festivals, interaction between film makers and critics on film criticism. The festival will be inaugurated on Thursday by actor Jaya Bachchan. Dadasaheb Phalke Award Winner Gulzar, Hollywood Producer Ashok Amritraj, director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Telugu film actor Venkatesh will be present. The festival will go on till Feb 5 and is being organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy for Government of Karnataka supported by Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce. The screening of the films is scheduled at Orion mall-PVR Cinemas, Bengaluru and Mall of Mysore-Inox Cinemas, Mysuru. More than 200 films from more than 60 countries are expected to be screened in 15 screens.
