Passengers arriving and departing from Bengaluru, Mandya, Mysuru, Madikeri, Hassan, Chikkamagaluru, Dharmasthala, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Shivamogga, Harihara, Davanagere, and Tumakuru will now be able to enjoy free wi-fi at bus stands located in these cities. The facility will be shortly extended to Kolar and Chitradurga bus stations as well, said the KSRTC. KSRTC is the first public transport operator in India to provide free wi-fi across both Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities on a trial basis. It is expected to benefit more than 1 lakh passengers daily An individual may access the internet by enabling Wi-Fi on the device and selecting the "ION Wi-Fi" option from the available networks. He can also download the FREE ION Wi-Fi App from ION Network or Google Play Store. For iPhone users, a login page will appear through the browser or the application can be downloaded from iStore. Later, a 10-digit mobile number has to be keyed in and the password received over the SMS has to be entered.
