Milk Turns Sour Between Vendors and Customers!

Submitted by Newseditor on Tue, 2016-01-05 18:45 Bengaluru: As if the price hike on Nandini milk effective from Tuesday is not frustrating enough , the same old packets with old price print has created confusion among the consumers across Karnataka. Though the Karnataka Milk Federation has hiked the price of Nandini milk by Rs 4 per litre, the new price is not printed on the packets. This has lead to clashes between milk vendors and consumers with the latter accusing the vendor of charging more for milk. “Morning I had a quarrel with our daily milk vendor as he charged Rs 8 extra today for 2 lts. When I demanded an explanation he claimed that there was a price hike but it was not mentioned on the milk packets,” said Mary Jacob, a resident of Ejipura. Same was the issue with tea vendors also. Raghu who runs a tea stall at Malleshwaram purchased 30 litres of Nandini Special milk (orange pack) and to his astonishment, the delivery boy demanded Rs 120 extra. “I had not heard of the price hike but today I had to pay more for milk. Even the packets carry the same old prices,” said Raghu.  However, Ravikumar Kakade, KMF Marketing Director, has already made it clear that even after the rise in milk price, for some days the milk packets will display the same old prices as there are loads of plastic films printed. “Using new film instead of old film will cause a considerable loss to KMF. The existing stock has to be cleared and then the new packets will be released,” he said.
