Submitted by Subeditor on Tue, 2015-12-29 14:59 Bengaluru: The residents of Kannahalli area staged a protest against BBMP here on Tuesday demanding the replacement of wet garbage segregation plant from the area.In an embarrassing incident for the BBMP Commissioner G Kumar Naik, the protesters stopped his bus and shouted slogans against him seeking immediate remedy for the pollution issue.When the commissioner was explaining the work of the plant to the accompanying journalists, the residents rushed into the plant and warned the commissioner that if BBMP fails to give a proper explanation and solution measures for the pollution issue they will not allow him to go out of the plant. The villagers urged that if the BBMP wants to construct such plants, let them do it at Vidhana Soudha. The protesters complained, “Now we are living in toxic environment. Our children's health is spoiled. Why do they not understand It.? Why this village is chosen for dumping Bengaluru's waste?”They also threatened that they will burn out the plant if it is not removed from the place.
