The city police has permitted several business establishments including bar and restaurants to stay open till 1 am at night from December 24 to January 1, 2016.In more news that should gladden the hearts of tipplers, City police have said they have no objection to allowing the bar-licenced establishments to keep open till 1 am all days of the week. For more than a year now, the establishments are allowed to extend the hours till 1 amonly on Friday and Saturday. “The city police do not have any objection for these business establishments to keep open till1 am for permanently if the state government agree for it,” N S Megharikh, Bengaluru city police commissioner said.Megharikh considered the many representations from the establishments to extend the night deadline in view of the New Year celebration and extended the curfew time.In his order copy, Megharikh said the management of such establishments shall obtain required permission from the Excise Department for serving of liquor during the stipulated period during the said period.The order is not applicable to wine and liquor shops. The establishments should take all necessary precautions to maintain public order and not to create any nuisance to the individuals and public, Megharikh said.He also warned that police would not spare people who will drink and drive at night. The traffic police will be very strict with drunken driving cases.
