Submitted by Subeditor on Wed, 2015-12-16 21:25 Bengaluru: A female housekeeper at JP Nagar Police Station was arrested on Wednesday on a charge of allegedly stealing gold ornaments and cash from the Police Station. The suspect is identified as Devi, a resident of Jaraganahalli, who has been working as a house keeper in JP Nagar Police Station for last three months. According to police, Devi had noticed that the police were keeping the recovered stolen properties and cash in an almirah in the police station. She managed to steal the key to the almirah and made a copy of it. She used to come to the station early in the mornings when few people were around, and stole properties kept in the almirah. Instead of stealing whole items, she would only steal part. For instance, she used to cut the gold chain and take small bits of and take them home, police said. After she collected a quantity of gold, Devi pledged it with a pawn broker. The gold weighed 75 grams and pawn broker paid her nearly Rs 50,000. She was caught on December 1, as the CCTV of the police station recorded her while stealing Rs 10, 000 . Police claimed that Devi had admitted the theft and police have also claimed that they recover the stolen property.
