South-West monsoon is likely to land in Karnataka’s coastal districts including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi by May 31 after entering in neighbouring Kerala between May 28 and 30. According to a private weather forecasting agency, Skymet, monsoon will arrive here almost 10 days after making an entry in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. In its statement, Skymet said “It is likely to reach over Andaman and Nicobar Islands between May 18 and May 20. Thereafter, the south-west monsoon is likely to arrive over Kerala between May 28 and May 30, simultaneously covering some parts of north-east India.” However, the Meteorological Department is expecting Monsoon to hit India by May 15 and South Kerala by May 31. Skymet further said that monsoon is expected to reach Kolkata by June 10. However, Mumbai will have to wait a little and is likely to witness between June 12 and June 14. States like Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh may receive rain by June 25. But, it will be delayed in Delhi where it is expected to arrive by July 1. Subsequently, almost all parts of the country, barring western Rajasthan, will be covered between July 1 and July 7. Monsoon will cover entire nation before July 15.
