Submitted by alvin on Tue, 2016-05-10 18:58 Manipal: Manipal University, Manipal, has been ranked as the top private university in the country in a survey conducted by Education World magazine. The magazine surveyed the top 100 universities, engineering colleges and 50 best b-schools. With top ratings in four of the seven parameters, Manipal University was polled the best by 4,465 sample respondents in the Education World India Private University Rankings (EWIPUR) 2016. Last year, Manipal University was ranked behind BITS, Pilani, and IIIT, Hyderabad. Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal, has been ranked sixth. The four parameters in which Manipal University outscored others were: faculty welfare and development, competence of faculty, infrastructure and facilities, and research and innovation. About a month ago, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal (MCOPS), was ranked the top pharmacy college in the country by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) approved by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. An elated Dr Ramdas M Pai, Chancellor of Manipal University, said: “We are aiming to make a mark in the world rankings and this is the beginning. Hopefully, it will not be too long before we figure in global rankings.” Vice-Chancellor, Dr H Vinod Bhat said he was “delighted” with the result. “The core values of the University viz integrity, quality, transparency, humane touch, team work and execution with passion have assisted us in achieving this feat. The constituent institutions of the University are some of the best in the country,” he said.
