The accused has been identified as Mithun (27), who is closely associated with Bajarang Dal and noted rowdy sheeter. Dr Sharanappa, Superintendent of Police, DK said that Mithun is a rowdy sheeter and the prime accused in the case who was absconding was nabbed on Monday, November 30 at 6.30 am near Puttur bus stand, the SP said. According to police, Mithun is wanted in one murder, three attempts-to-murder and eight other cases in Bantwal police station limits and one in Vittal police station. Earlier this month activist Harish Poojary was murdered on the night of November 12 at Manihalla near BC Road in Mangaluru while he and Samiulla were returning from a cricket match. Victim Samiulla was injured in the incident and this had created communal clashes in Mangaluru. Immediately a week after the murder, the Dakshin Kannada police arrested Bhuvith Shetty and Achyuta, associates of a right-wing outfit. The police had said that it was a case of mistaken identity, as the attackers had believed Harish to be from the minority community. Dr Sharanappa said that “Mithun is also a member of right-wing outfit. Once we arrest the other two accused in the case, we will reveal everything. As investigation is still on, we cannot divulge details," he said.
