Speaking to the media here, district in-charge minister B Ramanath Rai asked the people to use water judiciously. There was a decrease of 21 per cent in rainfall in the last monsoon which further brought down the water level to 9.6 ft in Thumbe dam and 13.9 mts in AMR dam. This is in sharp contrast to the water level registered last year. Thumbe had recorded 12.7 ft water level while AMR dam had water level up to 17.8 mts, the minister pointed out. In the backdrop of this, it is necessary to use water judiciously. He warned the builders not to utilise drinking water for construction purpose. According to the present consumption rate, water would be enough for only another 12 days, hence it was decided to supply it on alternate days, said Mayor Harinath.
