Acting on the information provided by the three accused — KM Muralidhar, Anil Kumar and KS Ranganath — who were arrested on April 13, the officials conducted the raid. Sources said the trio told the investigators that they shared the question papers and key answers with the management of the colleges, who in turn passed the information on to “select students” The officials also raided nine more private colleges across Karnataka – six in Bengaluru alone – on the same day. They include Narayana PU College in Ballari and Vidyaranyapura in Bengaluru; Sri Chaitanya PU College in Vidyaranyapura and Ballari; Deeksha Integrated in Yelahanka and Tumakuru; Presidency College in Kempapura; Brindavan College in Sanjay Nagar; Royal Concorde in Kalyan Nagar. It is said that the incriminating documents that establishes a link between the colleges and Chemistry paper leak were found during the raid. However, no arrests have been made as the police are still verifying the seized papers. CID officials suspect that more colleges could be involved in the question paper leak racket and that these colleges could be just the tip of the iceberg. They also believe that the prime accused Shivakumar and his son Dinesh, who are on the run, could have been associated with more colleges and tutorials.
